Learning Center Design

In order for all members of our franchise family to maintain the uniformity of the promotional narrative of Tinker Labs, we have prepared examples and short instructions to familiarize you with the rules of using branding, illustrations and graphic solutions in the promotion of franchise units and the entire brand. The solutions are only informative in nature and are not binding, but you should not stray too far from them either. For any doubts, please contact us. We will be happy to help.

Exterior

First impression

Making the position of the educational center a landmark that is generally accepted by all is a process that begins with unambiguous signposts and a clearly marked exterior that exudes recognizable brand symbols. When choosing a space for a school, certain features are desirable that will facilitate the arrival or departure of students. The possibility of parking a vehicle, a safe drop zone and access to the entrance will be the lower threshold for someone when deciding to enroll a child in the Tinker Labs program. A clearly branded entrance and a tastefully decorated facade and shop windows that exude interest and relaxation should be good harbingers of the activity that takes place within the walls of the school. We have prepared enough graphic materials that should help make the school clearly visible and make the atmosphere of the stay more pleasant for the participants of the courses. Browse the gallery of examples and on the download page download the illustrations that suit you, whether it was a free-standing building or a space inside a shopping center.

Parking & drop-zone

A sufficient number of available parking spaces during classes and a sufficiently safe and flowing drop zone for stopping vehicles will certainly be a positive thing in the operation of the learning center. Attendees and visitors to the school will also appreciate accessibility for people with disabilities. Make sure all these areas are well marked and tidy.

Interior

Classroom

The space that is the heart of the entire project, the place where the transfer of knowledge begins and where that playful spark of knowledge that is the basis of the Tinker Labs method develops. It is an inspiring space where a relaxed atmosphere can be quickly activated and where children will openly ask questions. The classroom must have certain functionalities, spaciousness and arrangement that will contribute to the success of the courses and the pleasant stay of the children in that space. In addition to civilized standards, which include a neat and sufficiently spacious toilet, there are also optional spaces next to the classroom that will definitely come in handy in the daily needs of the center, such as a waiting room and any kind of handy storage where numerous resources needed in classes can be stored. All spaces should be decorated with interesting illustrations, posters, children’s works, equipment for scientific work. The walls should be painted in the colors of the Tinker palette, and in addition to the whiteboard, there should be room for a tool wall. You can find suggestions and ready-made solutions for these needs on these pages.

Technical requirements and recommendations

In our courses, the number of participants is limited to 10 and never exceeds 12, so the classroom space must be spacious enough to accommodate this number of students and enable them to perform various experiments and games that require more space. The classroom should not be smaller than 30 m2…

Optional spaces

Waiting room and warehouse

The waiting room is not mandatory and can be organized within the same open space as the classroom. It is then necessary to partially separate it from the classroom with wardrobes, shelving units, a screen or a sliding wall. Also decorate the waiting room with posters or paint it. Add a notice board, racks for leaflets and magazines, hangers for clothes and storage for umbrellas, a segment for forgotten things… If the spaces are separated by a wall, all the better. A discreet window between the spaces will allow parents to unobtrusively follow the lessons.

If there is enough space to create a separate closet to warehouse some of the materials that are needed for preparing the classes, this is an excellent option, as there are a lot of things that each Learning center will need throughout the year.  Well-stored, separated, and clearly indexed aids in the storage area will significantly facilitate lesson preparation, especially if several teachers work in the same classrooms.

If there is no space for such a storage room, then we recommend at least 2 larger free-standing closet units (between 80x60x200cm – 100x60x260cm).  Additionally, worktop storage units also add space for working, laying out materials for multiple classes, storing materials and tools, and also lend the space a laboratory feeling.
